Resources

 25th February 02

Thank you to Andrea Lindsay for making more bags to take, Gill Trudinger for the diagrams and aprons and skirts to wear.

Also a big thank you to the Paynesville Friendship Shed for the wonderful donation of funds to use at my own discretion. So far I have purchased heaps of laminated picture posters for the health talks, large posters and family planning demonstation equipment and information including a marvellous picture book on "Diseases and Disorder". Thanks heaps all :)

2nd September

The Quit smoking programme has been very worthwhile so thank you to Rebecca Riley from Quit Victoria for support and resources.
Also a big thank you to the Hamilton Wesley Uniting Church for support with funds spent on the Sunday School, the Mental Hospital and Pre School teacher training resources.
Also our support group back in Australia and friends and family who have kept Peter and I aware of what it going on back home and news updates. Your prayers have sustained us through the difficult times and there has been some real challenges.

31st July

Thanks to Monica we are hopeful of some donated tooth brushes and paste. This will help greatly in encouraging parents to teach children and see this as a priority.
Thanks also to QUIT Victoria for sending over some resources to help in my smoking campaign here.'

Teeth   17th June

I am thinking of buying about twenty tooth brushes and toothpastes to give out to families with young children to help teach families oral hygiene and care of teeth. If anyone would like to donate some more money then I could buy more for when I do the village talks. They cost about two dollars for brush and paste.
The teeth of the primary school children that I have seen is awful, front teeth caries, without even examining children it is obvious work needs to be done in this area.

I will be adding information about what is needed to help with the work I intend to do, in consultation with the Women's Fellowship, that I will need to take with me.

Currently a member of my support group, Anne, is drawing on an apron made by Gill, the female reproductive organs and pregnancy to help teach health education to women and girls. This resource will be light and easy to carry and visually good to help for those with limited English or literacy.

Similar apron to what Anne is making.
Andrea is trying to find someone who can translate English to the main I-Kiribati language to help Angela make a booklet of healthy eating and lifestyle for local families to access easily. Other translators would be most welcome and make this job a lot quicker.
