(village life on the island of Tarawa)
WELCOME
Finally I've made the decision to let all family and friends know of my newly created blog site.
Welcome to everyone new to the world of blogging. It does take some effort to work out how how to move around the site.

I am hoping to put up interesting information about Kiribati as I become more familiar with uploading photos and adding various features to make it more interesting.
By the way, Kiribati is pronounced "Kiribas" by the local population, not Kiribati as it is spelt.
This is the story of three months in the Republic of Kiribati in 2011 and two months in 2012, as a volunteer Health Worker, invited by the Kiribati Women's Fellowship. (UnitingWorld Placement Program).

Researching Tarawa
This is a photo of the island of Tarawa where I will be living for three months. This picture shows just how fragile the islands of Kiribati are and being only three metres above sea level global warming is the most serious threat to the future of the islands.

Preparation Time
Peter and I attended training in Sydney for three days along with twelve other volunteers who will be heading off to various countries throughout the world this year. Having returned home it is now time to get serious about preparation for Kiribati and thinking about immunisation, visas and resources to take. Biggest concern right now though is how to work this wretched blog site. Two hours and it is still not happening the way I want it to!!
